Don't Rush
Here's another simple tip that will help you avoid making a bad decision. Don't let the salesman rush you into making a decision. They'll try, but don't let them. Why do they do this to you? Because they don't want you to leave the store without buying anything.
And the most common trick they'll use to try and force you to buy right now is to put some sort of time limit on the offer they're making you.
How do they do that?
"Just be aware that this mattress may go back up to regular price anytime."
"This sale ends on Sunday, so I can't guarantee you'll be able to get this price after that."
"I can't guarantee I'll be able to give you this price after today."
You get the idea. But you know better than to believe any of that baloney. So you just tell them you'll take that chance. Don't agree to buy anything until you've shopped around and feel confident that you have a good deal. They can't pressure you.
But to make it easier for you to get out of the store, tell the salesman you still need to look around some more and ask for his card. I've found that it's easier to get out of a store if I ask for the salesman's card. This makes them feel like you want to do business with them.
